Character Information
Character Name: Sally Malik Hargreeves
Played By: Meaghan Rath
Original Canon: Being Human (US)

Personality: Sally is, in every way possible, an extrovert. The way that she processes emotions, behaves, and everything in between shows not only how vivacious a person she is, but how important interactions with other people are to her. She's always quick with a quip, comment, or retort and to express whatever it is that might be on her mind. She projects what she craves in other people - open honesty, communication, outright opinions, etc. This comes with some confidence, even if she doesn't always feelt it, as well as arrogance on occasion.

Not only is Sally outgoing and quick to speak whatever is on her mind, but she carries herself in a rather easygoing and upfront manner - probably to make up for the way that she and her siblings were raised. It's hard not to crave something different when the way you're raised feels closed off and stifling. This definitely has led to Sally's desires to be both free and to have a normal, happy life. Along with her quick and easily given thoughts, comments, and reactions comes a bit of a temper as well.

Sally does happen to be a bit hotheaded and there are times when she can get a bit vengeful when wronged as well. When it boils down to it, Sally is a kind, caring, and even sweet person hidden behind a sardonic comment, an easily given smile, and jokes. Everything that Sally feels is usually felt to the fullest as well as expressed that way. She has never wanted to be like her father - nor her mother - and as a result she's chosen to live very differently and made many a mistake along the way. Sally is the sort of person that, at times, can change how she behaves - focusing too much on things outside herself and getting too involved or putting too much into things - but she always somehow manages to find her way back....even if it sometimes takes drastic things to knock the sense back into her. Once a victim of domestic abuse she has done her best to leave that time behind and never ben that person again, nor do anything to put her in either of those roles.

Never one to want to fight - Sally tries to stay as close to those that she cares about, but also can't quite help what pops out of her mouth from time to time - she tries to get alongw ith everyone. Sally is fiercely loyal, protective, and loving to those that are important to her and that she cares about and she'd go to the ends of the earth for them when push comes to shove. Sally is quick to think on her feet, creative, and certainly someone with surprises up her sleeves even for those that have known her for a long time.

Abilities & Skills:
  • Special Abilities; For a larger description of Sally's powers see here, but for a quick rundown that is AUed to fit the premise:

  • The ability to become invisible to most people. Sally can make herself unviewable - unseen - by people. With concentration and care, over time, she has also figured out how to make herself unviewable by even the other 43, but the natural state leaves her visible to those that are also like her if she hasn't taken any extra effort. And while it is easy for her to slip into a state where she isn't viewable by the masses it is much more difficult and takes much more energy out of her to keep herself unseen by others like her because it exerts more of her strength.
  • The ability to move from one place to another through picturing said place in her mind; she literally disappears and then reapepars.
  • The ability to cause her physical form to go intangible or ghostly so that she has no physical tie to the world around her. When she is in this state she cannot take any actual physical damage from anything. However, she can be dispersed by iron. which sends her back to the last location that she was previosly in in a sick and confused and somewhat zombie-like state that she then has to heal up from if she's taken a particularly nasty 'blow'. This state, with her intangible and not physically anchored to the world around her comes much more natural to Sally than being in a physical form, so there are no limits to how long she can stay like this. In fact, this was the first manifestation of her power followed by visibility. She spent a period of time when she was learning to control her powers 'stuck' intangible and invisible to the world outside of her siblings.
  • The ability to go into her ghostly state and then possess another individual, taking control over their actions within their body. This is an ability that leaves Sally drained and struggling - there is an addictive quality to it that can cause a struggle along with the fact that the longer she possesses someone the harder it is for her to get out and the more 'crazy' it can cause her to become because the multiple conscousnesses in one body. She does not enjoy, nor does she actively choose to use this power whens he can help it.
  • The ability to manifest her energy/will in physical ways - this ability is tied heavily to her emotions. When her energy or will manifests it is generally in a time of high emotion (anger, upset, etc) - particularly the negative emotions. She has caused drains to back up, furniture, cabinets, etc to shake and 'poltergeist-esque' activity to manifest in whatever dwelling she happens to be in and connected to at the time of high emotion. She is able to do the same things with concentration, but even after time it's much more attached to her emotions than anything else. She is much better at keeping these things from happening, whereas in the past it was much more of a struggle to clamp down on some of the things that her emotions caused to happen in the Hargreeves household. It is limited to the physical dwelling that she happens to be in at the given time as well.
  • The ability to further manifest her emotions through fire, water, and other 'spell-like' ways is something that has come much later than her more ghostly-related abilities. And they are something that Sally still struggles with and sometimes can't even explain how she uses them from time to time - she just knows that sometimes she manages to make fire or to trap someone in an almost spell-like way when in dire need, but this can backfire on her just as often as it can help at this point - catching things she doesn't quite mean to on fire, causing her to wind up somewhere where she didn't intend to be afterward, etc.

  • Skills; Outside of the fighting skills that their father pressed upon them all, basically, Sally is also skilled with languages, history, and researching.

Childhood: Sally was certainly one of the more difficult Hargreeves children - between her outgoing personality and the determination to try and drag that out of everyone around her and the time that she spent literally intangible she was always one that was attempting to keep father and mother on their toes. Moreso than attention Sally's biggest desire as a child was to be normal and to get the same love and emotions back that she felt so strongly. She was obviously disappointed by a robotic mother and a cold, unfeeling father. And she found both parents frustrating - her own emotions coming out in what could feel like explosions at times.

Sally never wanted to be a part of a superhero team - she wanted to be normal. And on top of that desire to be normal and to be free from these added difficulties (which was a feeling that only grew exponentially as a tween and teen) Sally struggled to figure out how to control her abilities - whether that was trying to not clog the drains when she was disappointed and sad because of yet another slight from their father or causing the furniture in every room to shake from her anger and frustration when she felt misunderstood and like their mother couldn't connect with her on an emotional level. Sally, despite her difficulties has always relied on her humor and dealt with being part of team B (another slight felt very deeply by her, honestly, even with her lack of a desire to fully embrace being a superhero). She was one of the team B members who didn't feel jealousy other than the fact that it felt like there was less attention on her team, but as she grew and developed she managed to realize that that wasn't the sort of attention that she wanted anyway.

By the time that Sally was a teenager she absolutely had an idea that she wanted to get out of there - and she did so through what is probably one of the more boring ways. Sally went from the Hargreeves household straight to college. She had plenty of aspirations and so many ideas as to the direction that her future would take her - sights set on joining the UN or pursuing a psych degree once she finished her undergrad as well as grad school - she never expected the turn that she would take instead. She graduated with her undergraduate degree, but during that time met Danny, who she thought was the love of her life. He was the guy that she thought would give her the normal life that she wanted so badly. And she wanted to be with him so badly that she put her plans on hold after he proposed and pushed her to put her education on pause for the wedding and to buy a home together - so they could settle into their lives together.

It didn't happen all at once, but over time Danny began to show his true colors seemingly changing from the loving, sweet guy that she knew she could have the perfectly normal life with to an abusive and controlling man. It started with Sally giving up her big plan, sacrificing to instead plan for a wedding, and focusing on the homemaking process. The road to marriage was paved with emotional and mental abuse. Danny got jealous, he got controlling, and he started to more obviously and outwardly tear Sally down. And it all culminated in an incident in which Danny pushed Sally backward down the stairs. She was lucky in that her powers helped her survive the fall - even though she didn't come out unscathed.

After the incident Sally's engagement ended and she wound up with the house and trying to pick her life back up with her whole plan for the future ruined. Since then Sally has taken on some roommates - a last minute decision made in favor of just renting the place out, finding a job, and trying to get back to herself and get over everything.
Present Occupation: Mortuary Assistant
Present Residence: Sally currently lives in a fixer upper with two bedrooms and a mostly finished basement that needs a lot of work and has a lot of issues with it. She bought this house alongside her ex-fiancee.

Anything else we should know? Sally has an ex-fiancee and two roommates (both of whom are male) and no children. She currently has awareness of all of her powers, she just lacks a mastery of some of them as opposed to the others.
